Common Errors in Trust Planning and Administration
“Common Errors in Trust Planning & Administration”
This presentation will cover topics such as, the importance of reading the trust document, the significance of beneficiary designations, the ins and outs of reporting K-1’s on trust returns (including passive loss limitations), and some protective elections available. Much of this presentation comes from personal experience, reviewing trust documents, preparing trust tax returns, and working with clients and their advisors.
Ronda Gardner has over 25 years of experience in accounting and taxation. She has worked for small and mid-sized accounting firms and previously had her own accounting firm in Utah County, but recently moved to Cedar City to escape the traffic and pollution. Ronda established Gardner Estate & Trust specializing in estate and trust accounting and taxation after observing the costly damage that can be done when there is inadequate or inexperienced follow up on estate plans.
Ronda knows from personal experience the challenges of death, divorce and estate planning for a blended family. After being widowed with 6 children, she married a divorcee with custody of his 7 children. The Brady Bunch had it easy.
